When I started this project I wanted to capture the action of smoking. Many people see people smoke everyday, but the entire process of how isn’t often documented. I wanted to document someone close to me for this so I chose my mom to study over 3 different times. I noticed that my mom would get more than just pleasure from inhaling the smoke. The joy of smoking starts from the pack itself, when my mom pulls out the cigarette you can see the smile start to form. They start to light the cigarette, and inhale the first breathe, giving them their first sense of relief for the next 10 minute’s. There is no worry, there is no care, my mom is free for a short time. During this time she would either bring the dogs out with her or ask me to come too so she wouldn’t be smoking alone. Smoking can be very solitary at time’s. By bringing the dog’s my mom can get 2 tasks done at once, fixing her craving and letting the dog’s pee. She can smoke up to 8 times a day depending on how stressful the day gets, even though smoking is only temporary smoking still helps her take a step back. The cigarette has almost run out, the time is coming to put it out and finally… The end
